Calendar

The Audubon Everglades Photography Group (AEPG) meetings are on the SECOND Thursday of each month.  Calendar entries are updated to reflect the upcoming events. Any subsequent changes will be posted on this calendar and announced to members by email. As programs are held and recorded, videos are linked to the calendar program date in case members missed the meeting or want to review in more detail.

This section contains the list of all scheduled AEPG events: programs, critique sessions, field trips, workshops, and photo shares.

Unless indicated otherwise, all programs, critique sessions, workshops, and photo share sessions will be held remotely using ZOOM. Members may log onto the ZOOM session from 6:45pm through 7:00pm for “social time” before the program begins. Field trips will be held when opportunities are identified.

Photography is much more than pointing your camera at a scene and tripping the shutter. Weighing the assorted components within the frame of the viewfinder is important as it impacts the resulting image, and subsequently the viewer. Unlike painters who begin their art with a clean canvas, photographers begin with a canvas fully loaded. Recognizing how to evaluate and isolate the various graphical elements from this filled canvas enables the photographer to create an impactful, visual story.

The photo critique of member’s nature photographs by a professional photographer includes analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the image. The analysis provides insight on characteristics of the photograph and techniques to improve the lighting, color, cropping, composition, etc. to help members become better photographers. The critique reinforces positive technical and artistic aspects of the image, as well as suggests alternative approaches to improve its technical and artistic value.

The photo critique will NOT include a grade or score of any of the critiqued images. The goal is to learn how our photographs successfully speak to our audience and how we can make them even better.
